The backyards

The ugliness of backyards
does not matter
when we dance
samba
straight from Brasil

And bullet holes in the walls
remembering the days of
the II world war
are still there

mean nothing
when you can forget
the daily life
in the magic of the theater

  1. Difficult to reconcile this duality: theater and war.
Photographs that remind us painful moments of our history.

  3. Meaningful, painful, amazing images Marias, but the color and glamour of the theater and the Samba are the things to focus upon. There are kids today who never saw a dial telephone, have no idea who General Bradley was or how to dance the Samba. They might be able to tell you about Afghanistan and Iran, but kids usually block out the unpleasant.

  11. The perfect contrast, the metaphor of sadness and joy in one photo. You have a great eye and inner sensitivity. Captures the reality of what is valuable and beautiful.
